Before you start designing

Before you start designing, it’s a good idea to have your colors and fonts ready. This will save you time later and keep your design consistent. The easiest way to organize them is by creating a Branding Board. If you use Canva, you’ll find plenty of free templates to help you put one together quickly.

I also have one here if you want something super simple.

What Showit-plan do you need

Showit offers three different plans, and the best choice depends on what you want from your website. If you’re unsure, you can always start with the most affordable option and upgrade later. Showit’s support team is excellent and will help you if you decide to switch plans down the road.

When choosing, here are the main things to consider:

1. Do you want a blog?

  • If you don’t have or want a blog, the basic plan should be enough.
  • If you do want a blog, Showit integrates with WordPress, so you can design your blog and posts with Showit’s drag-and-drop editor.
  • If you already blog elsewhere, you can keep it where it is and simply link to it from your Showit site.

2. Do you have a shop?

  • If not, you can skip this part.
  • If you do, decide whether you want to move it to Showit. WordPress makes it easy to run a free WooCommerce shop that you can fully style with Showit.
  • If your shop is hosted elsewhere and you want to keep it that way, Showit also integrates with platforms like Shopify, Shoprocket, and more.

So, a quick rundown:

  • If you don’t want a blog or shop through Showit, choose #1
  • If you want to have or move your blog to Showit, choose #2
  • If you want a blog and use WooCommerce as your shop through Showit, choose #3

For a full breakdown of what’s included in each plan, you can check out the details here.

Domain

The next step is connecting your domain to your Showit site. You cannot purchase a domain directly through Showit, but they provide step-by-step tutorials to guide you through connecting your existing domain.

If you don’t already own a domain, I recommend GoDaddy.com. It’s one of the most popular and reliable domain providers, easy to use, and often very affordable in the first year.

To help you set everything up, here are some tutorials from Showit:

Now that we have gone through the basics, let’s move on to your template. You will find the next step in the PDF you got at purchase.
