Wordlist

I’ve created this list to help explain any words or terms you might not be familiar with. I’ll keep adding to it as I create more tutorials, so you can always come back to it when something feels unclear.

There are many technical terms in web design that can be confusing at first, and my goal is to make them easier to understand. If you come across a word that isn’t listed here, feel free to contact me. I’ll be happy to help!

CanvasA canvas is a section of a page in Showit. Each page is made up of one or more canvases that hold your content, like text, images, or buttons. You can also turn a regular canvas into a site canvas to reuse it across different pages.
Site CanvasA site canvas is a reusable canvas that appears on multiple pages of your website. When you edit a site canvas, the changes automatically update everywhere it’s used. This is great for keeping your header, footer, or menus consistent.
Hamburger menuA hamburger menu is a small icon with three horizontal lines that opens your full navigation menu when clicked. It gets its name because the three lines look a bit like the layers of a hamburger.
WordmarkA wordmark is a logo made up of stylized text that represents a brand’s name. Instead of using a symbol or icon, a wordmark focuses on typography, color, and spacing to create a distinctive and recognizable look. Well-known examples include logos like Google, Coca-Cola, and Visa.
